Job Description

WorkCover & Injury Management Coordinator

Permanent Part-Time (3–4 days per week)
Remote | Travel Required

For over 50 years, MADEC has been quietly doing important work: helping people experiencing poverty, disadvantage or distress to find opportunity, self-worth and a better future. We’re a proudly not-for-profit and charitable organisation with a strong community heart and a practical, hands-on approach.

Use your expertise to support recovery, dignity and meaningful work.

About the role

We’re seeking a WorkCover & Injury Management Coordinator to join our Corporate Services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring injured workers are supported effectively, return to work outcomes are achieved, and claims are managed proactively and sustainably.

While you’ll work closely with insurers, treating practitioners, regulators and host employers, the majority of your day-to-day communication will be internal — partnering with Team Leaders, Liaison Officers and Managers (particularly within our PALM Scheme) to ensure messages, plans and expectations are clearly understood and consistently applied.

You’ll also play an important role in the financial coordination of claims, ensuring wages, invoices and reimbursements are handled accurately and on time.

What this role looks like day to day

  • Case managing workers compensation and injury management matters from start to finish
  • Developing practical, compliant return to work and suitable duties plans
  • Acting as a clear and trusted internal advisor to Team Leaders and Managers
  • Coordinating communication between internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Supporting investigations, insurer reviews and WorkSafe requests
  • Maintaining an Incident Register and identifying trends, improving systems and contributing to injury prevention strategies
  • Liaising with payroll, finance/accounts and insurers to:
    • ensure timely payment of wages and claim-related invoices
    • track reimbursements and reduce financial exposure
    • support accurate claim costing and premium management

This role is predominantly remote — you’ll have independence and flexibility, with some travel to support return to work activities and stakeholder meetings when needed.

About You

You’re someone who knows the legislation but doesn’t forget the person in front of you. Colleagues describe you as empathetic, organised and steady — especially when navigating injuries, timelines and competing priorities.

You bring:

  • WorkCover Accredited Return to Work Coordinator qualification
  • 2–4 years’ experience in workers compensation and injury management
  • Strong communication and relationship skills
  • A knack for simplifying complex processes
  • Confidence with Microsoft Office and reporting
  • A current Police Check and Driver’s Licence

Bonus points for:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • Experience across multiple state/territory jurisdictions
  • Background in task analysis, investigations or risk assessment

Why MADEC?

You’ll join a small, supportive team that genuinely wants good outcomes for the people we serve. We work with compassion, curiosity and integrity — and we celebrate the big and small wins along the way.

  • Purpose-led work with real human impact
  • Supportive and values-driven team
  • Permanent part-time (3–4 days) with genuine flexibility
  • Predominantly remote with some travel

Our values matter here: Empathy | Genuine | Ethical | Passionate | Responsible

We’re proud of our culture and our mission — and we’d love you to be part of it.
