Job Description
About the Role
You will be the workers key point of contact and will provide care and support to ensure they assimilate into their local environment, the workplace, and to build skills required for independent living in a new country. Each day will be different, but your core responsibilities will include:
Addressing worker enquiries which will be varied, and assisting workers to build skills to resolve their concerns independently;
Building trust and strong relationships with worker to ensure any matters of concern are understood and addressed;
Assisting workers with access to services required (eg; medical);
Acting as a communication conduit between workers, our client (the host employer) and MADEC; and
Identifying any risks to worker wellbeing and escalate as required.
This is a casual role and the hours offered will vary given the seasonal nature of the industry however you can expect to work an average of approximately 15-20 hours per week, and these hours will increase during the peak season. You will be required to be flexible with your working hours and available for out of hours work, including weekends. We, in turn, can offer flexibility with your working arrangements so that it works both ways!
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You will reside in the Port Augusta area and be familiar with the local area, as you will travel to see workers and Host employers throughout Port Augusta area and surrounds
You will have excellent communication skills, and a passion for getting the best out of relationships, through a person-centred approach to your work
You will have a genuine desire to help others, along with patience and cultural sensitivity to assist in ensuring you build effective connections with our workers
You will hold a valid driver’s licence so that you can provide on the ground support to workers
Please note a police check, and valid working rights are a pre-requisite, as unfortunately sponsorship is not offered for this position.
